wow.. just wow.
So i was watching a video on youtube about the new MacBook by apple. the main complaint of the video was that the new macbooks do not have a Firewire port. I thought it was a stupid idea not to include a firewire port because most mini DV camcorders use firewire. I thought most of the commenters would of agreed with me. boy was i wrong. People were actually debating the usefulness of firewire! nevermind the faster speeds and reliability, but there were people on YouTube, a site that puts its success on people's random videos, saying that the way you import these videos was not needed. good grief. what are you doing to us apple? sure, the macbook pro has firewire, but its also 1000 dollars more expensive. what about the regular people who dont need the "pro" version and just wants to upload random footage? oh well i guess

STA mock up commercial
Here's another mock-up commercial the 185 did. we only had 50 minutes to shoot it, but i think it came out pretty good. Its for STA travel. The concept was supposed to be comedy about a guy who was having a bad day and wanted to get away. I was headed in that direction while editing, but once i put in the music i knew that the genre changed. It turned out to be a drama about a guy who is down on his luck and needed to escape. i know its probably not what STA wants (no shots of people having fun) but it was good practice for the class. We'll just have to see what STA green lights.

FINALLY!!!one!
see, this is what you get for trying new things. usually after i edit something i make it to a regular movie file and a couple minutes later, its done rendering. but no, not this time, i wanted to bring in the movie straight to adobe encore... and because of this, i had to endure 7 (SEVEN!!) hours of rendering.. but at least its done now and i can go one to make some kick ass dvd menus

gamestop girl
I'm a gamer, no hiding it. Not ashamed to say it. Not one of the super geeky ones, but i do know whats going on in the video game world... so when i came across this craigslist posting on one of the game blogs i read, i lol'd. have a read and if you get it, then you've just earned 5 points in my book.
"Dearest GameStop Girl,
When I walked into your store that fateful Tuesday, I expected only to find a smattering of half-decent titles tucked back there amongst the used 360 games. Instead I found you, surrounded by a beam of light, halfway between Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 3. Your gorgeous dark hair was radiant in contrast with the rainbow of colors on the deluxe Bioshock behind you. The Game of the Year held no interest for me when I saw you look up and smile, even though both could hold me in Rapture.
You commanded the register when it was my turn to check out with the Orange Box. Yes, I was finally getting to play Portal. Lucky me, you said with the cutest smile. Lucky me, I thought, and then knew you had the Portal to my heart. I could care less if the cake is a lie, I'd still want to share it with you.
Oh GameStop Girl, how you make my heart meter skip a beat. If you were being held captive in a mountain fortress by a ruthless mutant mafia gangboss and I had to fight my way through 16 levels of fire-breathing undead ninjas with swords the size of small ponies, I would find a way, even if, after every level, a small man continued to taunt me by saying that you were in another castle. EVEN IF.
So, yes, GameStop Girl, I want to kill robotic zombie terrorists with you. You can even have the deluxe shotgun with explosive scattershot. I'll just use this knife over here. I'll do anything for you, just for the small, slightest chance that someday - someday - you and me could be a Wii."
i can see where the guy came from and i must thank him for entertaining me

Puttin on the Ritz!
sorry for the title... im currently listening to Taco "Puttin on the Ritz". we need more music like that, music thats fun to listen to; i dont need to know how great the artist is or how many hoes he got in the stretch hummer (off topic: could you imagine the gas mileage on that sucker?)
anyways, back to what i was going to blog about: here's a screenshot of something im working on. im trying to incorporate flash with real time footage. hope it turns out like i want it to.... its just the stupid animation. they seriously need to develop some sort of input mechanism where i just think of what the character does and the computer does it automatically for me.

oh man, i gotta be starting something now!! (Michael Jackson's "wanna be startin' something just came on)

Vlog #2
Still weird talking to myself!!! so weird in fact that i couldn't find the stop button, but that could also be caused by the coffee and lack of sleep.. on the up side, i was entertained by these guys playing the Office theme song on the marimbas!!

back to san jose
looks like my trip to LA is coming to an end (its 4:35am). Had lots of fun and hopefully I got enough footage to do a short music video about the drive to and from LA. Shooting for the slingbox commercial should be starting soon and boy am I excited! I was thinking of doing a "making of" video like you see on tv. Thought it would be cool to look back on the experience one day. If anyone is interested let me know!

mid-morning workout
Snowboarding today! Fun right? Nope, the battery died on us in tracy, (silver lining: we got to eat sonic burger) so sonny and I had to push the car a 1/2 mile to the service station. Nothing like pushing a car right after you eat...

Storyboard
Here is the storyboard for my concept for the SlingBox commercial. Many thanks goes to Sonny Chhen for drawing out the storyboard and helping iron out some ideas. The names of the characters can always be changed (i just chose Jim and Dwight because i was watching The Office at the time). Just click on the pic for a better view (sorry it might be hard to read).

Trying out opera mini 4 with a 2:45 am blog. So far so good, pages load up faster than IE mobile AND websites are desktop version! Joy

Past Work
Here are some videos my friend and I have done. Hope you enjoy!
First one up is a video called "The Gizmodo Informant". It's a video we did for the Gizmodo.com Laptop Confidential Contest. We were asked to make a film noir inspired video with the limitation of having only one actor play multiple parts. We ended up winning the contest at the last minute (the public was asked to vote for their favorite).
Second up is a commercial done for FireFox during their "Get Firefox" video contest during the Firefox 2.0 launch.
Next is another commercial we did for FireFox. The audio is crap (we lost the original narration) but it was fun working with a green screen
The next video is a Mythbuster parody for the "Spoof the Discovery Channel" contest.
